Social Media Ban for Under-16s
Manston Parish Council
Kent Police recorded 1,810 crimes in one year where both the victim and perpetrator were under 16 and the offence took place online, including 83 cases of online domestic abuse. This is likely under‑reported, but it shows the scale of harm happening right now.
With the House of Lords debating the Bill next Tuesday (3 Feb), Police and Crime Commissioner, Matthew Scott is calling on the public and professionals to join his letter to the Prime Minister supporting a ban on social media for under‑16s and removing smartphones from schools.
